I need to send out my annual Christmas family newsletter that I always send out sometime before the Fourth of July. I am in such a muddle this morning I'm wondering: what did we do this past year? Besides my trip to Taiwan, all I can think of is lessons!
James built a set of bookshelves for the boys' room that will go over the built-in desk he installed last week. I have to get the shelves primed and painted this week.
We've decided it would be a good move, economically, to buy a gas-powered clothes dryer. This means piping propane into the laundry room. James is busy thinking that one out. He had hoped to go overhead, from the line at the east side of the house through the attic to the north wall of the laundry room, but the roofline where the laundry room roof meets the house roof has turned out to be a problem, so he'll have to go around the outside of the house instead, running a pipe along the wall of the porch.
James can do anything.
On Sunday a bunch of us ladies decided to wear hats to church. That was fun.
It all started about a month ago when B and N were planning to dress alike for church one morning. B had been up late studying, so she had failed to get her hair washed. She and N decided they would wear hats to hide B's greasy scalp. A and I decided to wear hats, too, just for fun. We just hadn't thought of doing so before.
Several ladies said to please tell them next time we planned to wear hats so they could too. Isn't that odd, how things get started? We just did it together to avoid the akwardness of B being thrown the inevitable question, "Why'd you wear a hat today?" to which she would have to truthfully answer, "Because my hair is dirty."
Anyway, we decided so many ladies had expressed an interest that we'd better have another hat day. We called our friends E and W and had them tell their Sunday School classes. I think about 15 of us were so adorned Sunday morning. Now the ladies are looking forward to another hat day. We'll probably go with the second Sunday each month and see how everyone likes that. About 10 other ladies have expressed an interest.
Isn't this silly? But it's so fun!
